Anglicare Appeal

Written on the 4th of August 2010

Surfers Paradise Anglican Crisis Care has been helping people on the Gold Coast since 1981.

Anglicare provides over 16,000 meals a year to underprivileged people, each meal is cooked and served with love, at their Drop in Centre.

Anglicare are partially funded by the Dept. of Communities.  The funding works out to $1.62/meal, which obviously doesn't cover the cost of a basic meal, so Anglicare rely heavily on donations.

Most clients are homeless and sleeping in parks, buses or under bridges.  This includes men, women and children.

There are approximately 8-10 families living in their car on any given night on the Gold Coast.

At the moment, Anglicare are having a crisis of their own.  They have the cooks, the volunteers and helpers to feed the many women, children and men that come to them, but they don't have the food and supplies in the cupboard to feed them.

Dream Workers are on a mission to help Anglicare fix this problem.

Dream Workers are asking you to help by donating the following items so that Anglicare can continue to support and care for homeless people on the Gold Coast:

  • Non-perishable groceries such as breakfast cereals, rice, pasta, noodles, instant coffee, tea bags, spreads, sugar, any tinned vegetables or meat in a can, baked beans, spagetti or tuna.
  • Personal hygiene items: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, disposable razors, sanitary pads, tampons, washing powder and toilet rolls.

If you are able to support Dream Workers in our appeal to help Anglicare, please phone Marco on 0401 828 722 to arrange collection of your groceries.
